Recyclable cargo cover launched

TLX Cargo has launched TLX2 which, unlike other thermal blankets on the market, can be recycled. With global warming and climate change being a key issue, using thermal blankets that can be recycled becomes a critical factor in any decision making process.

Cargo covers using metal to reflect heat cannot be recycled, which is the case in silver covers available today, such as aluminized bubble wrap for example.

To avoid using metal, TLX2 cargo covers are made from 100% high-grade polypropylene and use special non-metal pigments to reflect the heat from the sun. This allows TLX2 cargo covers to give exceptional light reflectance and performance but also be re-cycled back to a polymer and then recylced into other plastic based products.

TLX and Emball'iso are working with clients to place recycling bins in global locations to collect the covers on arrival, and then send to local recycling centres.

TLX2 cargo covers comply with the international conditions covering recyclability.

  • The product must be made with a plastic that is collected for recycling, has market value and/or is supported by a legislatively mandated program
  • The product must be sorted and aggregated into defined streams for recycling processes
  • The product can be processed and reclaimed/recycled with commercial recycling processes
  • The recycled plastic becomes a raw material that is used in the production of new products.
